HE KNEW IT WOULD TAKE UNDYING CONVICTION, DETERMINATION,
AND MENTAL STRENGTH TO FACE HIS OBSTACLES HEAD-ON
COUNTED OUT
In the face of devastating loss, Staff Sergeant Corwyn Collier of the U.S. Army National Guard refused to do what would be easiest. Without warning, he was forced to deal with the life-wrecking challenges of losing his career, parts of his body, and his ability to walk due to a combat explosion in Iraq. Managing multiple traumas all at once left him with a critical choice to make: give up or continue fighting for the life he knew he deserved. Left in broken pieces and with the responsibilities of picking up the physical and emotional pieces of his life, he knew it would take undying conviction, determination, and mental strength to face his obstacles head-on.
When they walked through the door, my eyes filled with tears. I cried thinking about how God had answered my prayer, “I don’t care what happens to me, Lord. I just want to see my sons grow up.” As I looked at them and hugged them, I realized God was real and that He knew that my boys needed me.
